What can Food For Thought Nutrition Coaching do for me?

We can assess your current diet then work together with you to create a personalised plan that will promote permanent transformations to your health and wellbeing. This will include dietary recommendations along with lifestyle improvements such as exercise and movement, sleep, and stress management.

Is Food For Thought Nutrition Coaching right for me?

If you have had a stroke or a TIA (mini stroke), or you are worried that you may be at risk of a stroke and you want to improve your health, then Food For Thought Nutrition Coaching may well be the solution for you.

Food For Thought Nutrition Coaching is made for people who take their health as seriously as we do; people who know their health is their greatest asset. If this is you, why not give us a call today?

How does it work?

You can get in touch with us by calling 07549 028591, or by visiting the Contact Us page. Alternatively, if you are ready to get started straight away, you can click the Appointments and Pricing button at the bottom of this page.

We will then arrange a chat with you where you can tell us a bit more about your diet and your stroke, and what your goals are. We can then recommend a nutrition coaching plan that suits your goals, and then your healthy lifestyle journey begins!

When should I get in contact with Food For Thought Nutrition Coaching?

If you have had a stroke or a TIA (mini stroke), or you are worried that you may be at risk of a stroke and you want to improve your health, then give us a call! Usually, the quicker that we can see you, the quicker we can help.

What will happen during the sessions?

Before your first session, we will ask you to complete a questionnaire so we can assess your current diet and lifestyle, and you can tell us about your health history and what you want to achieve from working with us.

From there, we will work together with you to develop a personal nutrition and lifestyle plan that will help you achieve your goals, and this will be monitored and updated during our subsequent sessions.

How many sessions will I need?

That depends on your current diet, your goals and the support systems you have in place. We should be able to outline a clear nutrition coaching programme for you on your first session, and we always give more than one option so YOU can pick one that suits you best!

Will I have to follow a strict eating plan?

Not at Food For Thought Nutrition Coaching. Rather than prescribing rigid meal plans which can be tough to follow, we guide you to build healthy diet habits using our unique meal transformation approach which supports you to improve your health in a sustainable and enjoyable way.

Will I have to give up my favourite foods?

Absolutely not. At Food For Thought Nutrition Coaching we know that it's not individual foods that make or break health, but overall eating habits. We enjoy dessert as much as you do!

Do you recommend supplements?

Your nutrition coach will carefully assess your diet to understand the balance of vitamins and minerals it provides. From there, we can suggest foods that will help to improve the overall balance of nutrients and the quality of your diet. Only in a very small number of cases will we recommend a supplement.

I have swallowing problems after my stroke. Can you help me?

We cannot assess your swallow or advise on the correct texture of diet to enable you to swallow safely. However, we can work with you to find new recipes, explore ways to make meals more enjoyable and guide you to build healthy diet habits that will promote permanent transformations to your health and wellbeing.

Should I tell my GP I am working with a nutrition coach?

For most people nutrition and lifestyle coaching is hugely positive with many health benefits. However, we do advise that you tell your GP you are working with a nutrition coach prior to starting a health plan with us.

I feel better. Can I stop taking my medication?

Many of our clients take prescription medications for health conditions that can be improved by diet and lifestyle changes. We do not directly treat these conditions, however it is common to see improvements as a result of following a nutrition and lifestyle programme with us.

Your medications have been prescribed to reduce your risk of having another stroke, therefore it is essential that you do not stop taking your medication without speaking to your GP first.

I've heard that anyone can call themselves a nutritionist. Is this true?

The titles 'nutritionist' or 'nutrition coach' aren't regulated in the UK, so in order to know that you are handing your money over to someone you can trust, it's important to find a nutrition coach who is appropriately qualified and registered by a trustworthy professional body.

At Food For Thought Nutrition Coaching, we are proud to be a member of the UK Health Coaches Association.

I'm not confident with technology. Will virtual sessions be suitable for me?

Food For Thought Nutrition Coaching uses Zoom for our online consultations. Zoom has exploded in popularity during the coronavirus pandemic, so you may already have had the opportunity to use it.

However, if Zoom is new to you, we would be delighted to offer you a 30 minute discovery session, at no cost to yourself, where you can meet us online, have a chat about your goals and try out the technology! Simply get in touch by visiting the Contact Us page.
